Political Chess

Intially, I designed a poster to bring with me to the first 2016 Presidential Debate hosted at Hofstra University, but eventually this project began to take on a life of its own (literally, in 3D). Inspired by the animosity that was taking place in US politics and my poster design, I made a provocative, political-themed game of chess with blue pieces (representing the Democratic party) and red pieces (representing the Republican party). Each piece was 3D printed and protrays a great likeliness to actual politicians and partisan topics.

I travelled to a few cities, recording people with different political perspectives playing the game together and chatting. I’m currently working on producing a documentary about this social experiment.
